Personal Goal Setting

Leaders spend much of their time setting goals – strategic goals, team goals, and project goals. With all of this focus on goals, very few leaders take the time to think about their personal goals or their personal well being. In order to perform to their full potential, leaders need to tap into positive energy that comes from a focus on more than their job.

Jackson Leadership Systems (JLS) Personal Goal-Setting Exercise is a powerful way to help a leader begin to talk about issues related to their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.

We work with leaders to help them consider their “whole” person and to develop a productive focus on:

  • Career
  • Family
  • Health
  • Recreation
  • Spirituality
  • Financial Planning
  • Community Involvement
  • Personal Development

By setting goals related to different areas of their life, leaders find that their new sense of purpose can directly influence performance at work.

Benefits and Outcomes:

  • Increased focus on work-life balance
  • Increased ability to cope with stressful situations
  • Strengthened personal relationships
  • Re-fuelled passion in the workplace by discovering a deeper sense of purpose in life

“In a corporate environment that is changing at warp speed, performing consistently at high levels is more difficult and more necessary than ever. Narrow interventions simply aren’t sufficient any more. Companies can’t afford to address their employees’ cognitive capacities while ignoring their physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being.” (Loehr and Schwartz, 2001)
